About
Frank Giammarinaro
I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child in grade school. From an early age, I discovered a passion for art. While kids were playing soccer in their leisure time, I drew pictures to satisfy my hunger for art. I am a self taught artist with a natural born ability to draw and paint things as they really are, more known as realism perspective. My artistic development comes from the many visits I made to various museums and art galleries in the U.S. and Europe over the years. I’ve spent many hours looking, studying and marveling at the work of masters who made their imprint long ago. I love all forms of art but favor realism more than abstract or impression art. My formal art education was studying art at Wright State University in Dayton Ohio as an Art Education major. My goal was to become an art teacher and teach art in a public school system. I attended WSU from 1969 to 1976. During my many years of public service with City, County government, and USAF I found time to paint and draw. I created graphic design logos for several Cities and USAF. My experience allowed me to do advertising layouts for a private company and brochure layouts for City government. During this period, I also painted portraits and murals on the side to keep me active in the work I love to do. My proud moment in my career came when as a teenager in Junior High School; my art work was recognized and published in “Quest” magazine (published for San Diego County public schools). The magazine picked the best literature and art work from all the schools in San Diego County and published them on an annual basis. My water color/pen and ink rendering chosen by “Quest” captured the image of a U.S. Navy ship missile cruiser docked on Broadway pier in San Diego Bay.
